Fun enjoyable experience by superdave27
As an owner of PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii, I was torn what next gen console to purchase for our family of 4 with young kids.
The Xbox 360 was a poor family experience, the UI seemed cluttered with advertizing and the kinetic had a horrible time seeing our 4 year old and the controllers were creaking and felt cheap after moderate use.
The PS3 was good for my gaming needs moderate fun for the kids, a fantastic media center, but the move to the PS4 felt like I had to start over again, new controllers, new games. Such a big expense and starting off with 0 titles.
After much debate I decided on the Wii U for our next family console. One of the main selling points was the content. Many people are complaining that the Wii U has such a small title library, although true, when considering the 100% backwards compatibility with all the Wii titles (we had quite a few already) the total Wii U library is significantly bigger than it seems.
Such a fantastic experience so far, being able to Migrate all of our Wii purchases and saves to the Wii U. After a bit of updating and the migration process(not required) our Wii U had plenty of games to play the day we opened it. The Wii games are sharp and run fast, our old Wiimotes work great, it feels like a true upgrade without the punishment of having to start over.
As for the Wii U content, our only game so far has been Disney infinity. The game pad truly shines when in toybox mode, having your inventory on the game pad while building on the TV is a fun experience. Another huge + is the ability to turn the console on and run games on the game pad without the TV (Wii U games only), being able to let the kids play Disney infinity on the game pad wile I can watch football was darn cool. When the game ended I switched the TV to the Wii U and the kids could keep going on the big screen.
Although we have only had the Wii U for a weekend, I has been an extremely enjoyable experience so far, and I am looking forward to using it more in the future.
Good Console for Building games by Auron8631
The console is amazing, quick set up, patches not too long and a great system to have if you are into thinking/strategy games.
Great system by Tomb13
A gift for grandson I'm sure he will test it all and want more games
has great potential. by IncaCelt
This is a very well thought of system. I have had mine for a year and my biggest complaint is the still tiny game library. I didn't buy this thing to play game that were made 20 plus years ago! My rating would be higher if there were more games. For this Reason I advise you to look at other systems. I'm worried now that the ps4 and Xbox 1 are out that this system might fade away. The next Gen edge is lost, and the game library is still very small. Avoid.
set up required a call to Nintendo for help. by SirJ1
The game is fun and easy to play. However, the set up requires a lengthy download that took hours even with high speed service. It also required having to adjust my wireless router settings. I had to call Nintendo and endure a long wait for customer support to find out what was going on. The manual doesn't explain this lengthy process. One would think that when buying a new console, it shouldn't need to be updated prior to using it.

Thank You Nintendo for Another System for Gamers by caliber463
So I bought my system about 1 month after release last year I was worried but honestly best DECISION EVER! I have not played a Nintendo system so much since the Nintendo 64. Game Cube and Wii were great but you can defiantly tell Nintendo has it in for their consumers.
-Controller is new but so helpful, Its hard to go back to a classic style controller after getting used to the screen
-Off TV play- While my daughter watches TV (Sofia the First) I play Wii U.
-Backwards compatible with the wii (oh and not only games but controllers too)
-The best internet capabilities, addicted to mii verse and web browser.
-Games are top notch, I am sick and tired of the non creative 3rd party games on other systems besides AC. This console and its games really care about their gamers. I have not played a game YET I have not loved!
-No reset button
-Freezes everyonce in a great while can be over looked easily!
